Larry Bird:
Larry Bird was born on December 7, 1965 in West Baden Springs , Indiana . He is among the best players in NBA history. Larry stands 6'9” and weighs 220 lbs and was drafted sixth overall by the Boston Celtics in 1978. Along with players like Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson he changed the basketball game in the 1980s. Larry Bird played for Boston Celtics for 13 years from 1979-80 to 1991-92. He had a solid hold in the game and was dynamic being a scorer, a passer, a rebounder, a defender and a team player. In his career, Larry won All-Star Game's 3-point competition three times. He has a career average of 24.3 points per game, with a high of 29.9 points per game in the 1987-88 season. Being a rebounder, Larry averaged 10.0 rebounds. He was also known as an excellent passer, averaging 6.4 assists, high for a forward. After retiring from the Celtics, Larry Bird was inducted to the Basketball Hall of Fame. He was also included to the NBA's "50 Greatest Players" list, in 1996. Larry became the coach of the Indiana Pacers at the start of the 1997-1998 season and was also named the NBA Coach of the Year for that season. Under his guidance, the Pacers made three straight Eastern Conference finals appearances and one trip to the NBA Finals in 2000.
